COD: Black Ops by Tony Terry

Welcome back BlackBerry fans.  If you have visited BlackBerryVoodoo before you may already be aware that several of us around here are not just BlackBerry junkies and theme developers, many of us are also hopelessly addicted gamers… I know, I know, speak for myself…  Now, as a gamer, I personally am a big fan of FPS style games and I’ve literally been counting down the days until the November 9th release of Call of Duty: Black Ops, so when our buddy Tony Terry dropped in last month to post his Black Ops theme in the forum I thought, what could be better for our November Theme of the Month?  So here we are and as for the theme, what can I say… it’s sweet!  It has some great looking COD wallpapers, a full set of OS6 icons, hidden dock/today areas, custom battery and signal meters and more.  It’s a whole lot of fun and it’s Free!  If your a fan of COD, first person shooter games or just love rocking a sweet free theme on your BlackBerry, hop on over to the’ forum and grab yourself a copy. October is here and the Theme of the Month is back! And boy have we got a dandy to share with you this month. From the talented hand of BBV’s very own O o FRY o O,  I’m pleased to present Halloween 10, an amazing theme packed full of cool features and spooky goodies. For those of you already familiar with O o FRY o O’s BlackBerry themes you undoubtedly know of the exceptional quality and attention to detail that shines in every one of his creations and Halloween 10 is just one more example of theme design at it’s best. BlackBerry Theme Studio 6.0 Beta

The good news for BlackBerry developers just keeps on coming today as BlackBerry Theme Studio v6.0 beta has just been made available for download from BlackBerry’s official developers page. This first beta release of Theme Studio 6.0 offers an improved UI making it easier for both new and current users to create themes, allows for direct manipulation of theme elements in the preview screen and also offers the ability to select multiple elements and change them with a single click. Theme Studio v6.0 beta currently only supports the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and BlackBerry 6 OS, it is recommended for experienced users who want to experiment with the latest BlackBerry technology and don’t require a full set of documentation. If you are new to theme development then you will want to download the current stable release of BlackBerry Theme Studio 5.0 SP1. But if your like me and have been itching to dig in to the latest and greatest from BlackBerry then don’t wait, go and download this beta version and start having some fun.

Tron Legacy Theme

Hello out there BBV readers, BlackBerry fans and fellow Leos’ whom I celebrate my birthday with this month. Can you believe August has arrived so quickly? It feels like 2010 is in some type of perilous race speeding ever onward to an inevitable crashing end. And while we’re on the subject of things racing by at break-neck speeds, anyone remember the movie TRON? The 1982 sci-fi classic staring Jeff Bridges. It had some sort of high speed race in it as I recall and I believe also ended in a crash. Now thanks to Hollywood’s current trend of rehashing everything from the 80′s (The A-Team, Karate Kid, Transformers, Red Dawn, ect, ect…) this December we’ll get a fresh new look at the world of TRON as Disney reinvents this familiar adventure with far better graphics and brings the world a sequel more than twenty-eight years in the making with the release of TRON Legacy.

Now to our Theme of the Month. If you have visited us here at BlackBerryVoodoo.com before you’ll likely know that many of us around here love to keep our BlackBerry’s consistently immersed in new themes and many of our favorite themes draw inspiration from the world of pop culture. With these thoughts in mind it seemed a logical choice for the August Theme of the Month honors to go to a new theme developer joining our community, Tony Terry. Tony has kindly shared with our community several great new themes and his latest design aptly titled ‘TRON Legacy’ celebrates the upcoming Disney film of the same name. This theme is not only beautifully designed with an outstanding layout, great images, fonts and colors but is also an excellent example of how theme developers can help keep our favorite smartphones looking fresh by sporting the latest in trends, fashions and entertainment. “We’ll there ain’t no cure for the summer-time blues,” but there are at least a couple of things we can look forward to during the summer of 2010 that are bound to help beat the blues back. To start, we should all be looking forward to some hot new BlackBerry devices that will release on to the US and Canadian markets in the following few months, such as the re-branded 9650 Bold, and the much anticipated and heavily updated 91xx series that will finally bring the pearl back to the top of it’s game. But perhaps the thing I’ve most been looking forward to this month is the comeback (“don’t call it a comeback…” ) of one of my favorite TV shows, and arguably the best Sci-fi comedy of all time, Futurama ! That’s right, if for some reason you’ve been out of the loop, the good folks over at Comedy Central have revived this modern classic from the mind of Matt Groening, and are bringing us the one-hour season premiere June 24th. Being the Futurama nerd fan I am, I decided to put together a little homage to this ever-expanding big bang of comedy in the form of a sleek theme for all the BlackBerry users that are Futurama fans themselves out there.
